|Position:||8th grade Language Arts|
My name is Debra Welch and I am very excited to join the 8th grade Language Arts team at Bogle Junior High. I am looking forward to getting to know all my new students and their families. Thank you for the privilege to be your child’s reading and writing teacher this year!
My Education and Professional Background
I graduated from Rockford University in Rockford, Illinois with a B.S. degree in Secondary Education with an emphasis in English. After graduating in 1982, I taught 7th and 8th grade Language Arts in Crystal Lake, Illinois. We moved to Arizona in 2009 where I taught at Newell Barney Junior High for 10 years.
My Educational Philosophy
As a mother of two children, I understand what it means to want the best for our children. I bring this mindset into our classroom every day and apply it to teaching. I recognize that all children are unique and believe it is important to help them express and accept themselves for who they are, as well as to be able to embrace the differences of others. I strive to create an atmosphere of trust and constantly remind my students that we are ALL here to learn and that making mistakes along the way is OK. We learn and grow as people from our mistakes. As an AVID trained educator I believe that it is important to “Hold students accountable to the highest standards, provide academic and social support, and they will rise to the challenge.” It is a true privilege to be able to spend my days with junior high students where I have the ability to help them learn and grow academically, socially, and emotionally.
