Welcome to Ms. Striplin's class! I am thrilled to be your child's 4th grade teacher. I am originally from Long Island, New York. In my free time, I like to play with my miniature poodle (Davy Crockett), read, spend time with family and friends (especially my husband, Ian), go to the movies, watch or attend UofA sporting events, cook, and shop (mostly for shoes!).
My Education and Professional Background
I received a BA in Elementary Education and a BA in General English from the University of Arizona in 2006. I then received my MEd in Curriculum and Instruction from Northern Arizona State University in 2009. I have taught 4th grade at CTA Freedom since 2006. In August, I am starting a position at ASU as Associate Faculty in the College of Education.
My Educational Philosophy
As your child's teacher, my mission is to guide students to believe in themselves. I will help students increase their faith in themeselves by establishing high expectations that are individualized for each student, and then I will hold students accountable for these expectations. I will create an astmosphere of success, where all students are challenged in their abilities, and all students feel valued for who they are and what they have to offer.
