About Dr. Deanna Iverson...
Room: Bldg C - Counseling/Admin
Hello ACP! I am Deanna Iverson and excited to be a part of the ACP Counseling team. I have been in education for more than 20 years and I find high school students to be the greatest students to work with! Each year brings new and exciting challenges. Freshman students begin to build a picture of how high school can help them find their passions, purpose, and career paths. Sophomore students work to balance academic, social, and their personal needs and joys. Junior students begin to choose colleges, universities, tech schools, and jobs. Senior students are making plans to launch into adulthood and navigate the responsibilities that come with that. As a school counselor, my goal is to be a resource and guide through this process. By providing social/emotional support and offering various perspectives, I can help students discover the path that is best for their future dreams.
My Education and Professional Background
I graduated from the University of Arizona with a degree in teaching. I achieved my first Masters from Northern Arizona University in Educational Leadership, my second Masters from Ottawa University in School Guidance Counseling, and recently I earned my Educational Doctorate in Community Counseling and Traumatology. I worked in the Gilbert district for 22 years before transitioning to ACP.
My Educational Philosophy
I believe that all students have the potential to achieve greatness. As a counselor, my role is to provide encouragement, perspective, support, and guidance. Within this environment, students will grow in knowledge and skills, acquire the attitudes necessary for academic and career success, and develop a passion for life-long learning.
