About Mrs. Bernal...
Position: Kindergarten Teacher
Team/Department: DLI Spanish Program
Hola! Welcome to “Maestra” Bernal’s Classroom. I am very excited we will start this adventure for Dual Language Immersion Spanish Program with the incoming Kindergarteners! We will have a lot of fun learning a new language as we learn Kindergarten content.
I was born and raised in Mexico City. I attended a bilingual school all my education years. As a family, we moved to Arizona 21 years ago. I have two daughters, bilingual too, who both graduated from the great Chandler School District.
My Education and Professional Background
I have a bachelor’s degree in Computer Science. I graduated from a private university in Mexico City. After working several years in the corporate world, I stayed at home to take care of my first born. Later, after I moved to Arizona, I went back to college to get my education degree and now I am an Arizona K-8 certified teacher with an Early Childhood endorsement. Before coming to CTA Freedom, I taught first grade for 9 years. Also, I taught second grade and fifth grade for a total of 18 years of teaching experience.
My Educational Philosophy
Students will become engaged with every lesson and will keep coming back for more. We will create lots of fun hands-on activities where all students will have the opportunity to learn at their own pace. Students will feel confident, safe, and part of a community. They will develop Spanish language skills that will allow them to understand the language, but most importantly to communicate with others. I believe in teaching students to have a positive mindset, learn from their mistakes, and the love of learning. For me, parents are my partners. Together, working as a team, we will make the kindergarten experience a memorable one!
