About Michaelyn Perdue...
Position: ELA 10th and 11th Teacher
Greetings and salutations! I am beginning my second year at Casteel and am ready to jump back into the school year with new and returning students. A quick note about me, I was born and raised in Scappoose Oregon. After graduating with my Masters in Teaching in 2015, I taught middle school History and Language Arts for six years before moving with my husband to the Southwest.
My take on the subject of Language Arts: Reading isn't just for nerds and if your child learns anything in my class, it will be to inform oneself and gain perspective through the gift of reading. I look forward to learning from my students this school year.
My Education and Professional Background
My Educational Philosophy
Holistic and empathetic - teach the whole person. My classroom is centered around connection and community; without this, meaningful learning simply will not happen. Beneath this initial layer is an instructional approach of rigor and relevance. In order to prepare my students for their next year and for college, I ask them to strive for higher expectations and I supply a time and place where they can achieve the discipline to do so.
