Welcome to the technological age of education. I'm excited to teach/mentor all our young padawans.

My Education and Professional Background

I graduated from Arizona State University in 2001. I then continued to pursue graduate degrees with Northern Arizona University where I earned a Master’s degree in Educational Leadership and a second Master’s degree in Bilingual and Multicultural Education. My first teaching year was at Kyrene Middle School as a 7th grade math teacher. Although I loved that year, my heart pulled me to CTA Liberty as a 5th grade teacher. That opportunity led me to open CTA Independence. Since the first day our school doors opened to students, I have been a 5th grade teacher, a resource teacher, a 6th grade ELA teacher, media specialist, and now the technology educator/specialist.

My Educational Philosophy

Learning is a process. That process has three main key components in order to make it work. Teachers are there to provide the environment, resources, and strategies to help a student learn. Parents are there to provide support and guidance at home. The final component is the student. It is important for the student to be the primary component in being successful; after all, it is their outcome that matters. Everybody needs to work together by effectively communicating with each other, following through with thoughts and ideas, and being accountable to each person as well as themselves. This culmination will lead to success for everyone.
