    Welcome!

    Welcome!
Hello and welcome to Visual Arts. My name is Mrs. Alisson Suito, and I am so pleased to be part of your creative arts journey. I was born and raised in St. Petersburg, Florida and lived in Lima, Peru for ten years. I am married and have two daughters and a cat. Self-expression is important to me, and I like to offer students to find what they enjoy through methods of experimentation and technique training. I love sports, the outdoors, the arts and my family. I look forward to a colorful year with you at Andersen junior high school!

    My Education and Professional Background

I am an inquirer, always asking questions and looking to draw conclusions. I played soccer in junior high and high school, but eventually decided to pursue art when I had an amazing pre-college experience. From there I decided to study Illustration at the Ringling College of Art & Design in Sarasota, Florida where I earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts. I am currently taking courses in graduate school at Arizona State University earning a Masters of Education in global education and learning design. This has helped broaden my view of the education field and I look forward to graduating in the Spring.

I hold a visual arts teaching certificate in AZ and FL. I am an international baccalaureate visual art examiner. I also hold an ELA teaching certificate in AZ and am a Cambridge International speaking examiner.

For the past 14 years I have taught secondary school students in both Visual Arts and English as a second language courses. I enjoy both subjects. When my family was living in South America I became fluent in Spanish and realized how much I enjoy learning about world cultures.

    My Educational Philosophy

The most memorable and influential learning experiences are those we enjoy. I make it my policy to create an atmosphere built on respect, acceptance, patience, risk taking and humor. The learning strategies we practice in art help grow critical thinking skills and self-awareness that transfers to other subject areas. Art is such an important part of becoming a balanced learner.
