About
Owsley...
Welcome to Language Arts! I am looking forward to being your teacher. I reside in Gilbert with my loving husband, two beautiful daughters, and two fluffy rescued Bichon Frise dogs named Sparky and Rosco. I enjoy the outdoors as well as spending time indoors having fun.
My Education and Professional Background
My educational background includes a Bachelor of Arts in Education and 2 Masters degrees from NAU: elementary curriculum and educational leadership. I also have a reading endorsement specializing in corrective and remedial reading and an endorsement for English Language Learner. I have completed the requirements for administrative certification and completed the internship then-principal, Don Shelley at CTA Liberty. Since that time, I have joined the ranks as a Spalding Certified Teacher and a Spalding Teacher Coach.
My Educational Philosophy
Equally important to self-discovery is having the opportunity to study things that are meaningful and relevant to one's life and interests. Developing a curriculum around student interests fosters intrinsic motivation and stimulates the passion to learn. One way to take learning in a direction relevant to student interest is to invite student dialogue about the lessons and units of study.
