Welcome to 5th Grade!! I am so very excited to be teaching your children at our fantastic school! I look forward to an amazing year of growth as well as creating a supportive community within our classroom. We are going to have a GREAT year!
My Education and Professional Background
I earned my undergraduate degree from Elizabethown College in Pennslyvania in Elementary Education and Early Childhood. I started teaching at Hancock immediately after graduation in 2006. I then earned a Master's degree in Curriculum and Instruction from Northern Arizona University in 2008. My first year was spent in Kindergarten but I jumped up to fifth grade the following year. I've been here ever since!
My Educational Philosophy
I think all students can be successful in school. Teachers need to have a good rapport with their students and students needs to feel valued, respected, and involved. There should be good classroom management where the students know what is expected of them and what the consequences will be, whether positive or negative, when expectations are met and not met. I belive that it's a team effort between the teacher, student, and parents. Everyone works together to help students find success.
