• HARTFORD SYLVIA ENCINAS 21ST CENTURY COMMUNITY

    LEARNING CENTERS PROGRAM

When does it start this year?

          September 17, 2012

    Days? Times?

          Mondays-Thursdays 3pm-4:30pm

What is the 21st Century Program?

    • This program is funded by the AZ Department of Education.
    • The main goal of the program is to increase students’ reading and math skills.  Additionally, we offer Morning Music Club, Geography Club, and enrichment activities.
    • The program is open Monday through Thursday from 3:00-4:30pm.  This free program is for eligible 1st through 6th grade students attending this school. The program is NOT held on Fridays or any early dismissal day.

How does my child qualify for the 21st Century Program?

    • Students are selected based on test performance data.
    • Teachers, The Family Support Team (FST), or The Teachers Assisting Teachers (TAT) may recommend a student to be admitted to the program as space permits.
    • Students on a waiting list will be notified as spaces become available if the applying student meets the criteria.

Possible reasons a student may not qualify for the program:

    • The application is not complete – (i.e. emergency numbers are missing)
    • The applicant’s grade level is at capacity for quality instruction.
    • The student is not a Hartford Sylvia Encinas student between first and sixth grade.

Several reasons a student would be dismissed from the program:

    • The student has 5 or more unexcused absences.
    • The parent has picked up the student after 4:30p.m. 3 times without notifying the coordinators of an emergency. (480-812-6700 or 812-6723)
    • The behavior of the student is impairing the learning of themselves or others (discretion of the staff).

In partnership with our parents, we believe that the 21st Century Program is a valuable learning opportunity.  We look forward to working with you and your child and welcome any suggestions or questions.
