My Education and Professional Background
I graduated from the University of Arizona with a Bachelor of Science degree in Agricultural Technology Management with a teaching option. I am certified in Secondary Education (7th-12th) and Career and Technical Education and hold endorsements in General Science, Structured English Immersion and Agriculture. I have been teaching since 2007 and with Andersen Jr. High School since 2011. I have taught both the 7th and 8th grade science curriculum. Previous to Andersen I taught 9th through 12th grade at Queen Creek High School under the Career and Technical Education Department where I led the Agricultural Sciences Program for four years.
My Educational Philosophy
My educational philosophy incorporates three key areas; rigor, relevance and relationships. Through teaching I find it is very important to provide students with a rigorous science curriculum that incorporates research, inquiry and analysis. I believe it is just as important to provide relevance of the curriculum to students' lives. A student needs to see how science affects their every day life or how it impacts the world around them. Lastly, building a relationship with each and every student provides a foundation for the overall success of every student. My overall classroom goal is to provide every student with a safe place to learn, a chance to be themselves and to be given the opportunity to reach their full potential.
