Murphy...
Welcome to Mr. Murphy's APUSH site!!
My Education and Professional Background
Bachelor of Arts degree in Education - Arizona State University; Master's Degree in Curriculum and Instruction - Northern Arizona University I have been teaching in the Chandler Unified School District since 2004. I had the experience of teaching in the Chandler Gifted program for 8 years. I taught 7th and 8th grade gifted Social Studies at Payne Junior High School. I now have the pleasure of teaching APUSH here at Basha High!
My Educational Philosophy
As an educator, I feel it is my job to prepare my students for the world ahead of them. My goal is to encourage and inspire my students to not only be model students but model citizens, as well. With a stimulating, challenging and thought-provoking approach to social studies, I will compel my students to evaluate and analyze the past, present and future. I consider the implementation of multiple methods an important piece to the puzzle, also. Students will be given opportunity to work both cooperatively and individually in class. Using debates, discussions, note-taking, hands-on activities and readings, students will experience all aspects of a rigorous and exciting curriculum. I believe in an academically friendly classroom, fostered by mutual respect, where students feel safe to share their opinions and ideas.
