Welcome to Graphic Design. This is a 3-year program designed to teach you the basics of graphic design and get real-world experience at creating products for digital media and print.
My Education and Professional Background
I have a BA-Secondary Ed - Mathematics from ASU, an M Ed. Educational Media & Technologies from ASU, have taken the Principal Certification Courswork from NAU, I hold a CTE Certificate in New Technologies and an Industrial Arts Certificate. I have worked in a variety of service and product industries prior and during my 18 years of teaching. I have worked in restaurants, electronic firms, the credit card fraud departments, as well as co-owned a graphics business specializing in engraving and large format printing such as signs & banners.
My Educational Philosophy
My goal is to prepare students to be successful in the workplace no matter what field they end up in. My CTE course specializing in graphic design stresses the importance of effective communication in the workplace, responsibility and integrity, understanding the importance of legalitites and ethics in the graphics industry. We use various types of equipment so students learn about safety rules and procedures in the workplace. In graphics they learn to use a variety of industry software such as Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, and InDesign. They create digital images for various outputs and plan jobs and layouts according to customer specifications.
