My Education and Professional Background
I am entering my nineteenth year of teaching. I spent six years in the private sector and started teaching high school English at McClintock High School. I started at Perry High School its inaugural year and have enjoyed teaching freshman, freshman honors, sophomores, sophomore honors, Advanced Placement 11, College Preparation and yearbook. I earned my bachelor's degree in English from Ottawa University and my master's degree in Educational Leadership with a K-12 emphasis from Northern Arizona University. I hold a gifted endorsement and a principal certificate through the state of Arizona.
My Educational Philosophy
“I have come to believe that a great teacher is a great artist and that there are as few as there are any other great artists. Teaching might even be the greatest of the arts since the medium is the human mind and spirit.” --John E. Steinbeck ~As an advocate for teaching excellence, I am drawn to John Steinbeck’s carefully crafted words and I firmly believe that education remains the one profession that creates the greatest impact. I view teaching with the same tenderness and passion that Steinbeck must have had for writing. I look at my chosen profession and acknowledge that the ideas and principles set forth to each individual are central and must be carried forward with the teacher as a mere instrument.
