My Education and Professional Background
This is my 34th year in education and my 15th in Chandler. I began working in C.U.S.D. as the principal of Sanborn Elementary in 2002 and had the privilege of opening Ryan Elementary in 2006. I grew up in Poughkeepsie, New York where I attended both high school and junior college. In 1978 I moved to Arizona and completed my B.A. degree in Secondary Education and Spanish at A.S.U. After several years of teaching at the middle school and high school levels, I completed my M.Ed. in Educational Administration and Supervision at A.S.U. I taught Spanish at Coronado High School in Scottsdale for 14 years, and was an administrator in Scottsdale for 5 years.
My Educational Philosophy
I believe that all children are capable of success, and that they should be encouraged to reach their maximum potential in a rigorous but caring and respectful environment. It is our job as educators to give children the tools they need to access learning in a variety of ways as well as to teach the requisite skills they need to be successful in each subsequent grade level.
