My name is Ellen Cooper and I am so excited to start another great year. I truly love teaching and can't imagine a better job in all of the world. To share a little bit about myself: I live nearby with my husband, my two children, Paige and Noah and my boxer. In my free time, I am an avid runner, love to cook and read, but mostly enjoy spending time with my family. We are going to have such a terrific year together!
My Education and Professional Background
I graduated from Smith College in Northampton, MA as a history major and immediately moved out to the Phoenix area to begin my teaching career through a program called Teach For America. I received both my masters and post-baccalaureate teaching certification from ASU soon after. I have been teaching since 2000. I have had experience in both 2nd grade and kindergarten, but I have been teaching 3rd grade in the Chandler Unified School District since 2003.
My Educational Philosophy
I truly love teaching first grade and believe it is a year that you will see tremendous academic growth in your child. I strive to make learning fun and challenging every day. I am always incorporating music, chants, and songs into my instruction as well as strive to make a real-world connection with all learning. Most of all, I enjoy making meaningful personal relationships with each and every one of my students.
