About
Swaninger...
Hello there and welcome to our class. I am thrilled to be a part of the CCHS family and eager to share my love of reading and writing with all of our students. We have a busy year ahead of us and I look forward to making this year "coltastic"!
My Education and Professional Background
Originally from the Detroit area, I am a proud graduate of Michigan State University (BA in Elementary Education) and Oakland University (MA in Reading and Language Arts). I began my career in Tempe teaching 4th Grade at Carminati Elementary, then moved back to Michigan to teach middle school ELA and Math in Ferndale. Missing the mountains and sunshine, our family returned to Arizona in 2011. I was first hired into CUSD at Santan JHS and proudly continue my career here at Casteel.
My Educational Philosophy
In our classroom, one will find the emphasis on the whole child, centered around varying learning styles and applications. Education is not solely based on preparing students academically, but also creating experiences to promote hard work, perseverance, and success in life journeys.
