Welcome!

Welcome to 5th grade! I hope you had an enjoyable summer relaxing and just having a lot of fun. I am excited about the upcoming school year and hope that you share my enthusiasm. I am looking forward to getting to know you better as students, parents, and people. I would like to take this opportunity to tell you a little about myself and my expectations for 5th grade.

My Education and Professional Background

I am a native of Arizona and have lived in Mexico and Brazil. I received my Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education K-8 with Emphasis on Early Childhood/Montessori from Chaminade University of Honolulu, Hawaii and completed my Masters in Elementary Education with Distinction at Northern Arizona University. I am SEI certified, Bilingual/ESL experienced, and trilingual (English, Spanish, Portuguese). With over 20 years of diverse classroom experience at the elementary and junior high level, I have the desire to provide all students with an excellent education.

My Educational Philosophy

I have a strong passion to educate young minds and help shape reflective , self-directed learners who think critically and creatively. I believe creating a nurturing, motivational, and stimulating environment encourages ALL students to learn, develop, and succeed. I actively engage students in a variety of manipulatives, hands-on activities, and cooperative learning projects which accommodates multiple intelligences and incorporates differentiated instructional strategies. In my class students have an active role as part of a team, taking responsibility for their actions and problem solving to achieve success for ALL!
