Hello Marshalls! My name is Erica Castorena and I having been teaching at CTA Humphrey since 2012. I am originally from El Paso, Texas where I grew up with my wonderful family. I am married to my best friend and we share our love with our two dogs. I love Arizona and the diversity of people that live in this beautiful state. I am looking forward to building positive relationships within my classroom and I strive to inspire lifelong learners.
My Education and Professional Background
I attended Arizona State University where I attained a bachelor's degree in Elementary Education. I also attained my masters' degree in Administration in Education from Grand Canyon University.
My Educational Philosophy
As a teacher, my intentions are to first and foremost build positive relationships with each of my students. Together with effective communication, I can offer them a classroom that is filled with positive energy where students feel safe and are eager to learn new things. I want my students to feel that they belong to a learning community so they understand that their opinions and ideas are equally valued. In addition, I strive to create a positive environment where students can learn from both their teacher and classroom peers through daily interactions and deliberations. The adopted curriculum in combination with this positive learning environment will ensure that students are continuously learning new skills and knowledge that will help them achieve academic success.
