Welcome!

Hello! My name is Sarah McGinnis and I am thrilled to be a part of the Santan Junior High community. I am an East Coast girl, born and raised in Rhode Island. While I miss my family, I continue to enjoy winters without snow! I love the beach and take every opportunity I can to visit the coast of Maine. My favorite sport is hockey and I am a big Boston sports fan. I also enjoy reading, bowling, playing softball, and am continuously attempting to improve my golf game.

My Education and Professional Background

Professionally, I hold a Bachelor of Arts degree in Elementary Education and a Master of Education degree in Elementary Education. I am also endorsed to teach Middle School Mathematics. Additionally, I am certified by the National Board for Professional Teaching Standards. My previous experience includes being lucky enough to have taught fourth, fifth, and sixth grades in Massachusetts. Most recently, I was part of the fantastic Fulton family as a sixth grade teacher from 2013 -2020.

My Educational Philosophy

I am extremely passionate about teaching math! My goal for our classroom is to challenge students and watch them grow to their full potential. I believe in motivating my students to take risks and work at high levels. This is done in an encouraging, safe, fair, and fun environment in which students are truly part of a learning community. The main theme of our classroom is respect. My students come first and I value creating strong connections with each and every young adult who walks through my door. I am extremely confident that this will be a wonderful year for your children. I am so excited to be a part of their learning journey!
