Welcome!

My name is Mrs. Jennifer De La Torre and I teach CASE English. In addition to teaching, I am the exceptional student services (special education) co-department chair. I welcome parents into our environment with open arms. I also welcome parent and student suggestions; the learning experience is something that everyone should have a hand in.

My Education and Professional Background

I graduated from Arizona State University in 2000 with a bachelors degree in special education and graduated from Northern Arizona University with a masters in ed. leadership in 2007. I have been teaching since 2001 and have experience in all levels of special education.

My Educational Philosophy

Throughout the year, the students and I will be using a number of exciting activities in our classroom to learn. These activities will be individualized based on the student's academic level, needs and abilities. I do not believe that to learn students must do repetitive paper pencil tasks. I myself find that sort of work boring and I know that the students do also. My goal is to make the learning experience a fun experience that the students will not only benefit from, but also enjoy. Though the class will be fun, I do expect the students to work hard. If they are willing to participate in class activities and complete assignments that are given to them, they will succeed in my class.
