Welcome to 5th grade and a new year of learning experiences! I am originally from Texas, lived for some time in Nevada, and then moved to Arizona to pursue my dream of becoming an educator at ASU. When I am not teaching I enjoy reading, listening to music, watching movies, drinking coffee, and spending time with my friends and family. My husband Bret and I have two children named Brodie and Adalynn. They keep us quite busy! We are Disney fanatics!
My Education and Professional Background
I have been teaching since 2004. I have taught 6th grade, 4th grade, and 2nd grade. I am so excited to be teaching 5th grade!! In 2004, I received my Bachelors Degree from ASU in Elementary Education. In 2008, I received my Masters Degree from NAU in Curriculum and Instruction. I completed my second Masters in Educational Administration in 2015, and have my principal certification.
My Educational Philosophy
Students are changing. With each passing school year, students are bringing new changes and needs with them into the classroom. Students need new ways to become motivated about school and learning. It is the role of the teacher to take notice of the many changes students are going through and provide a unique educational experience that meets these ever changing needs.
