Welcome to ADPTS! I look forward to working with you this year!
My Education and Professional Background
I graduated from ASU with a degree in Special Education and Elementary Education in December of 2013. This will be my second year working as an ADPTS teacher and loving every moment of it. I have been working with students with Autism and other developmental disabilities for almost 5 years now.
My Educational Philosophy
As an ADPTS program we are striving to work together to reach our goals. Every student is unique and we can use individual strengths to work together as a community. Celebrating success and watching each other grow is a key component in building each other up. EVERY student has potential and contributes strengths. It is important to develop an environment where everyone feels safe and has a sense of belonging. I intend to create a class where everyone is engaged and learning. I believe in making school both an exciting and encouraging environment. I believe that every classroom should have a clear understanding of error acceptance. If a student is afraid to participate, they will never truly learn. It is always important to value creativity. If a child hates school, then he or she will never learn to the fullest of their capabilities. Every student is meaningful and a positive addition to the class.
