Mr. Justin Hastings
3rd Hour... Room E209, 4th Hour... Room E212
My name is Justin Hastings and I will be teaching two sections of World History/Geography at Hamilton High this year. I am a fourth generation native Arizonan having grown up my entire life in Queen Creek and Chandler. I am a product of the Chandler Unified School District and graduated from Chandler High School in 1993. I received my undergraduate degree in Secondary Education from Arizona State University (GO DEVILS!) in 1997 and my master's degree in Education Leadership from Northern Arizona University in 2002. I was a history teacher at Chandler High School for five years from 1998 to 2003 and a history teacher at Gilbert High for one year in 2004. For the last ten years I have been working in my family's capital investment and horse racing business and am excited to return to the classroom part-time this year. My passion in life has always revolved around basketball. This will be my 20th season coaching high school boy's basketball as I return for my fourth season as the head freshman boy's basketball coach here at HHS. GO HUSKIES! I have been married to my wife Nicole since 1999 and we are the proud parents of three San Tan Stormers: Thomas (12), Emily (9), and Andrew (6).
I look forward to working with my students this year as we explore the political, economic, and social history, as well as the unique geography of various world regions from prehistory through today. I will do my best to help students learn the material in a stimulating and challenging manner. My ultimate goal is to make history relevant to my students by incorporating how history influences current events which in turns gives students an awareness of the world they live in. My wish is that all students will come to class prepared with a positive attitude toward learning and a respectful personality. Please review the course syllabus for further details on this course and feel free to contact me with any questions or concerns.
