Welcome to Patterson Elementary students, families, and community members! I am thrilled to be a part of the Patterson Elementary School team and am looking forward to working with you and your student(s) this upcoming year! If you have any questions or are interested in receiving information about my services, please do not hesitate to call, email, or stop by my office.
My Education and Professional Background
I received my Master of Science in Counselor Education, with a School Counseling emphasis and Disability Studies Certificate from Eastern Washington University. I was previously at a Title I trauma-informed elementary school, where I received ample experience working with students and families from all different walks of life. In addition, I was a Residential Treatment Coach, working with foster children and adolescents who had severe behavioral issues.
My Educational Philosophy
I would like to take this opportunity to share with you my approach to counseling, as well as to helping students succeed academically, socially, emotionally, and behaviorally. As a person-centered counselor, it is of upmost importance to me to build positive and trusting relationships with students. My primary focus is to teach students how to learn from their experiences and behaviors, how to use coping skills when faced with challenges, and how to be the best version of themselves, so that they may develop in to responsible contributing members of society. In addition to being a person-centered counselor, I use a solution-focused approach. Helping students to create and meet their goals, gain conflict resolution skills, and work toward alleviating their difficulty.
