Welcome to Casteel! I am excited to meet all of you. This year will be filled with WOW s and all kinds of hands on labs. I have three daughters and they are amazing. I love ALL kinds of sports and have had the pleasure to coach soccer, track, tennis, and volleyball. My goal this year is to make science an adventure and each one of my students SCIENCE as their favorite subject.

My Education and Professional Background

I have been teaching for over 17 years. I hold a National Board Certificate in Science. I graduated from Lewis and Clack College in Oregon and received my Masters from Antioch University.

My Educational Philosophy

I believe each and every child has the potential to bring something unique and special to my classroom and the world around them. I strive to create an environment that is safe, supports students, and invites a sharing of ideas. My vision of a successful classroom is where people learn to respect, accept, and embrace the differences between us. Learners vary not only in abilities, but also in learning styles. I will incorporate themes, integrated units, projects, group work, individual work, and hands-on learning in order to make children active learners. Teaching provides an opportunity for continual learning and growth. One of my hopes as an educator is to instill a love of science in my students, as I share my own passion for learning with them. I am comfortable creating curriculum that utilizes recent modeling strategies and keeps students highly engaged. I believe you never stop learning and make sure I model this philosophy.
