Welcome!

Welcome! Want to know a little bit about me? I have been teaching since the year 2000 and at Basha since 2006, and have taught grades third through sixth.

My Education and Professional Background

My undergraduate degree (a BS in Psychology) is from the University of South Carolina (Home of the Fighting Gamecocks!), my masters degree (an M.Ed. in Curriculum and Instruction/ Language and Literacy) is from Arizona State University, and my administration certificate (Educational Leadership) is from Northern Arizona University.

My Educational Philosophy

I believe that each child is a unique individual who needs a secure, caring, and stimulating atmosphere in which to grow and mature emotionally, intellectually, physically, and socially. It is my desire as an educator to help students meet their fullest potential by providing an environment that is safe, supports risk-taking, and invites a sharing of ideas. There are three elements that I believe are conducive to establishing such an environment, (1) the teacher acting as a guide, (2) allowing the child's natural curiosity to direct his/her learning, and (3) promoting respect for all things and all people.

Welcome!

Welcome - a little bit about myself. I am the proud owner of a mutt named Sneakers, who is a Jack Russel mix, Scrubs, a Carin Terrier, 3 cats. I am a true Pittsburgh Steelers fanatic, I love to travel, read, spend time in Payson, eat Mexican food, and of course, Starbucks!

My Education and Professional Background

I have been employed in the Chandler Unified School District for over 20 years teaching 4th, 5th and 6th grades as well as 4/5 & 5/6 combination classes. I obtained my elementary education teaching certificate from Ottawa University, Master's Degree in Educational Technology from the University of Phoenix, and have a bachelor's degree in Marketing and Finance from Eastern New Mexico University.

My Educational Philosophy

I changed careers to become a teacher because I enjoy helping others grow and learn. It is important to me that the students in my classroom find learning interesting, meaningful and rewarding. My goal is that they are able to apply their classroom experience to their productive, successful life. My philosophy is that all children are capable of learning. This learning should occur in a safe environment while challenging the students to be creative, cooperative, literate and independent thinkers

Welcome!

Welcome to band!

My Education and Professional Background

I graduated from Northern Arizona University with a BMed: Instrumental and a minor is psychology. I grew up in the Chandler School District, graduating top of my class from Chandler High School. I previously taught Prekindergarten through 3rd grade general music and fourth through eighth grade band in addition to guitar and ukulele classes in the Wilson School District in Downtown Phoenix.

My Educational Philosophy

I believe that everyone has the right to music. Music is for everyone regardless of whether they have formal training or not. Music is also one of the hardest areas to master as it can never be mastered. For students, from beginners to professionals, there is never an end goal and there is always a new boundary to be broken. Music should be in the minds of everyone at a basic level as so much of our surrounding world feeds into and comes from music traditions.

Basha Bobcats learning to be technology producers... not just consumers.

My Education and Professional Background

I graduated from ASU with Honors in 2004 with my BA in Childhood Education. In December of 2009 I graduated with distinction (Magna Cum Laude) from Northern Arizona University with a Master's Degree in Curriculum and Instruction. I also have earned my English Language Learner endorsement.

My Educational Philosophy

Your student is my number one priority from the time they depart from home until they arrive safely back to you. No two days are the same, and I understand patience and compassion is as importation as curriculum and instruction. My job is rewarding beyond words. And now, as a technology teacher, I have spent many hours watch TED Talks; Mitch Resnick's thoughts on teaching kids about Coding is one of my favorites. Mr. Resnick has helped me see that teaching coding gives students the tools to be technology producers (not just consumers); as well as to be fluent problem solvers, enthusiastic learners of math/science standards and experts in technological language. Coupled with digital citizenship lessons, basic computer skills (from ergonomics to typing), and enthusiastic teaching, students will be prepared for the job markets of the future.

Welcome!

Welcome to fourth grade! I’m looking forward to an amazing school year where we will learn, explore, create, achieve, and have fun together.

My Education and Professional Background

I graduated from NAU with a Bachelors in Elementary Education in 2005. In 2009, I earned my Masters degree in Educational Leadership also from NAU. I taught 2nd grade for 7 years and 3rd grade for 3 years in Somerton, AZ. After moving to Chandler, I worked here at Basha as a Para-educator in our self-contained classrooms for 2 years. This will be my first year teaching 4th grade.

My Educational Philosophy

Every single child has the capacity to learn. It is our job as teachers to modify, expand, and innovate our teaching methods to assure that every student reaches his or her potential. I, also, believe that in order for our students to succeed academically and socially we have to "build bridges" between the school, the home, and the community. We have to be a team with our primary goal being to motivate, support, and guide our students’ learning.

Welcome!

Welcome to PE. I am a native of Arizona and the east valley. I have always had a love and appreciation for our gorgeous climate and the opportunity it gives us to get outdoors and play. I have three children in the Chandler Unified School District. On weekends, you will find me hiking one of our beautiful valley summits, at the gym, or at a sporting event with my family.

My Education and Professional Background

This is my second year teaching physical education and my first at CUSD. I am a Veteran (Air Force) and spent nearly 8 years as a firefighter. I attended Mesa Community College on a basketball scholarship then graduated from Black Hills State University in South Dakota. In 2010 I earned a Master’s Degree in Education from Arizona State University. My background brings knowledge and practice of habits that include staying active and being healthy. I have a passion to inspire children to find in themselves what will ignite the spark for lifetime fitness.

My Educational Philosophy

My goal as a physical education teacher is to inspire my students in a way that promotes a lifetime of healthy habits and participation in enjoyable activities. This includes teaching not only the locomotor skills necessary but more importantly, cooperative life skills. Students will learn how to work well with others. They will be encouraged to be kind and respectful to both themselves and their peers. Lastly, the overall goal is to have as much fun as can be imagined, while maintaining a safe environment, both physically and emotionally.

Welcome!

Welcome to Basha! I'd like to share a little information about my background. I grew up in Syracuse, New York, and recently moved to Arizona with my family in November of 2017! We decided to make the move because my mom's extended family all live in Arizona (in our neighborhood!) and also because we were sick of the snow! I am recently married and we have a dog and a cat as well! I love all animals, reading, and spending time with my family!

My Education and Professional Background

I received my B.S. in Inclusive Elementary Education from a small college in New York called Cazenovia College. I have a certification in General Education 1-8 and Special Education K-12. When I lived in New York I worked as a Teacher's Assistant (Paraprofessional) for about three years. I was in several different settings such as self-contained, general education as well as inclusive general education rooms. I was able to work with incredible teachers that mentored me along the way! I was first hired at Basha as a Special Education Teacher; but when my program was moved to another school, I knew I wanted to stay with my Basha Family!

My Educational Philosophy

My philosophy is that every child should have an equal opportunity to learn in every environment. I believe that we, as teachers, are responsible for creating a safe, reliable, and consistent environment for our students every single day. I encourage all of my students to reach their full potential, and I differentiate their learning in order to meet their individual needs.

Welcome!

WELCOME to our classroom! Our classroom started in January 2017, and I look forward to our continued growth in this 2017-2018 school year. This year will be full of friendships, learning and new adventures. It is my goal to create a welcoming environment for our students and their families. If you ever have any questions or comments please reach out to me through email, note, or phone call. Our collaboration ensures student success!

My Education and Professional Background

I am an Arizona native, and love this state. I graduated in January 2017 from Arizona State University’s iTeachAZ program with a bachelor’s degree in Special and Elementary Education. I am very happy and excited to begin my life-long goal of teaching as a special education teacher at Basha Elementary!

My Educational Philosophy

Teaching is my passion and joy. I believe that consistency and high expectations are two key elements in creating a successful classroom. In our room we focus on differentiated instruction through multiple means of representation. I believe that for children to learn they must be given the tools to access the information in a way that is meaningful to them.

Welcome!

Welcome to the orchestra! I am excited to be teaching orchestra in the Chandler Unified School District. Learning to play an instrument opened up a whole world of sound, new friends, and a lifelong love of music. I hope that I can pass on this love of music to my very special orchestra students.

My Education and Professional Background

I have a Bachelor of Musical Arts in violin performance from Arizona State University. I have a post baccalaureate degree in music education with an emphasis on string pedagogy. In addition, I have performed in music festivals in Sarasota Florida, North Carolina, and Interlochen. I have also been a member of the Phoenix Symphony and the Symphony of the West Valley. Currently I am serving as concertmaster of the Mesa Community College Orchestra.

My Educational Philosophy

Music enhances our lives in so many ways. When we study music, we are also learning history, mathematics, and technology as well as stimulating our imagination. Music is an international language that is understood worldwide.
