My Educational Philosophy

I Believe... 1. All students can learn and should have opportunity to learn, grow, and make progress. 2. Students learn best through engaging, hands-on learning experiences. 3. Students should be reading, writing, and counting everyday. 4. Students learn better in a supportive environment where they give and receive respect and honesty. 5. Learning and the love of learning is an on-going process that is built-upon each day. 6. Learning does not only occur at school; it needs to be supported at home. 7. All students need to be met and worked with on their individual level. 8. Praise, Encouragement, and Routines are all VERY powerful! 9. Children need to have natural consequences for their choices. 10. Children can be taught to have great social skills and should be taught how to solve their own problems in an appropriate manner.

I have been teaching at Hartford Sylvia Encinas Elementary School since 2000. I have taught sixth grade, fifth grade, fourth grade and am currently teaching third grade. Third grade is my passion! When I am not teaching I love to spend time with family and friends, travel and READ!

My Education and Professional Background

I have a Bachelor's Degree from the University of Northern Iowa in Early Childhood and Elementary Education, and a Master's Degree in Curriculum and Instruction from Northern Arizona University.

My Educational Philosophy

I believe that all children have the right to a quality education and are capable of being taught based on their own unique needs. In order for this to happen it is imperative for there to be close collaboration between teachers, students, administrators and parents. Everyone is an essential piece of the puzzle!

Welcome!

Welcome to 5th grade! I am thrilled to be able to guide your child in building on their academic foundations and gaining the skills necessary to become a self-sufficient, life-long learner.

My Education and Professional Background

In 1997 I completed my Bachelors Degree in Elementary Education at Arizona State University and began my career. Later, I went on to earn my ESL endorsement with coursework from the University of Phoenix and my Masters Degree in Curriculum and Instruction from Northern Arizona University. I continue to build my knowledge and strengthen my expertise by taking advantage of the many professional development opportunities offered in CUSD.

My Educational Philosophy

Education should provide children with academic and social foundations which inspire them to become thinkers who develop the problem solving abilities needed to take ownership of their learning, pursue their passions, and have the confidence to work through challenges. It is my privilege, as a teacher, to guide and support them as they build these foundations and begin their journey on the path to success.

Welcome!

Thank you for visiting my web page! I love teaching music at Hartford, and I do many other things too: Student Council, Variety Show, tutoring. Just to name a few. I've had the wonderful opportunity to work with most of our Hartford students, so please feel free to say hello to me and let me know how I can help you and your children.

My Education and Professional Background

New England Conservatory/Arizona State University. Bachelors, Masters of Music Performance, Post-Baccalaureate Music Education

My Educational Philosophy

Many people say that they don't have musical talent or that they can't play music. I don't think that's true. What those people really are saying is, I haven't been taught how to play, I haven't had the chance to learn. Music is a wonderful language that is not limited to a gifted few. Rather, music is something that everybody can learn to do and enjoy.

Welcome!

My name is Mary Bui. This is my first year at Hartford Sylvia Encinas, but my ninth year of teaching. I am married and have two wonderful children, ages 3 and 1. I was born and raised in Chandler and love it here. In my free time I love to read, watch movies, play tennis, and spend time with family.

My Education and Professional Background

I graduated with my bachelor's degree in Elementary Education from Arizona State University in 2005. Then in 2011 completed my Masters in Educational Technology from Arizona State University. I am certified in middle school math as well. I taught fifth and sixth grade at Santan Elementary for 8 years. I have a passion for math education and believe strongly that all children can be good at math.

My Educational Philosophy

By encouraging hard work and perseverance every child will learn and grow. I will provide students an environment to explore patterns, work through engaging tasks, and to learn to work flexibly with numbers. Mistakes are valued as an important part of the learning process. Rather than just delivering the information to students, I will ask questions and guide students to construct their own understanding. Students will collaborate and share ideas often. And hopefully they will have fun along the way.
