Welcome!

Welcome to the 5th grade at Hancock Elementary! My name is Robert Lee and I am so excited to be teaching in the Chandler School District. Fifth grade is an extremely pivotal time for children - a unique time because it is a bridge between the primary grades and middle school. Students will learn to become more independent and take on responsibility for their education. It is a fun year full of hands on projects, simulations, and writing. I am looking forward to another great year in 5th grade!

My Education and Professional Background

I have always loved school! I tell my students everyday that I enjoyed coming to school and being around other people. It was an easy choice to attend college to become a teacher. I graduated from Arizona State University in 2009 with a bachelor's degree in elementary education. I started teaching in kindergarten, but quickly learned that age group wasn't for me! I moved to Chandler and the 5th grade in 2011, which was a perfect fit for my teaching style.

My Educational Philosophy

I believe that students need to be in a safe environment for them to learn. They need to be able to make mistakes, learn from them, and give and receive feedback. It is a collaborative effort between students, teachers, and parents that will create this positive environment. We will work as a team to create fun and memorable experiences that will stay with students throughout their educational careers.

Welcome to 5th Grade! You are in for a wonderful time of learning through fun and lots of hard work.

My Education and Professional Background

I am an Arizona native. I grew up in Pinetop, AZ. I went to ASU for my undergraduate degree - Go Devils! I got my master's degree from NAU. I have two daughters, Hailey (9th Grade) and Madi (6th Grade). They are very busy in singing, dancing and acting! I am so proud of them. My husband is a police sergeant in Gilbert. I love reading - especially mysteries. I am a horrible cook. So, I enjoy eating out a lot!

My Educational Philosophy

I believe that learning comes from fun and lots of hard work. I love using games to reinforce my teaching. I feel that kids learn to become better writers by writing all the time and they become better readers by reading and listening to a wide variety of literature! Students should be able to teach each other skills. Then, they truly demonstrate mastery of curriculum. I have high expectations for my students and they are so successful because of it!

My Educational Philosophy

Students in 5th grade should be looking ahead to junior high. Now is the time to hone in on developing organizational skills and study habits that will assist them in taking ownership over their education. Gaining these skills in elementary school will prove to be beneficial in their future education and beyond.

I taught fifth grade there for 2 years and loved all the opportunities I had to travel around the country. After Mexico, I returned to Minnesota to teach at an IB/Spanish Immersion school. I had an amazing time traveling around South America and learning all about other cultures. Wanting to be close to my family again, I moved to Arizona and worked in Guadalupe for 3 years and East Mesa for a year before joining the amazing CUSD family.

My Educational Philosophy

I believe in always doing my best to meet students where they are and to bring them to where they need to be. I live and model the enjoyment of life-long learning and provide students the tools and encouragement they need to be our future leaders.

Welcome!

Hello. I am Lucile Kellis. I teach orchestra in the Chandler Unified School District. I am a traveling teacher because I teach at multiple schools every day. I teach around two hundred 5th and 6th grade students each year.

My Education and Professional Background

Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in Music Education with strings concentration from ASU, 2005 and 2010

My Educational Philosophy

I love teaching children to play orchestral instruments. I consider my teaching as a partnership with parents as we encourage our students to practice regularly at home and bring their instrument and music to school on the correct days for orchestra class. If my students will try their best to do as I instruct, they will learn to play well. This will bring joy and happiness to themselves and to their family members for their entire life. My orchestras are known for their excellent performances. I teach my students to present themselves with poise on stage by wearing nice clothes, sitting with good playing posture, holding their bows correctly, putting their fingers in precisely the correct place on the fingerboard, and bowing graciously after each selection on the concert. All of this further contributes to beautiful sound production.

Welcome to Band! I teach at Riggs, Ryan, Bologna and Hancock. I am so excited that your child chose to learn an instrument. It can be one of the most rewarding experiences. I hope your child enjoys learning their instrument as much as I enjoy teaching it. I thank you for supporting your child with this endeavor. Please feel free to email me(name/school) with ANY questions or concerns you may have and anything else you feel I should know about your child to make this experience most enjoyable.

My Education and Professional Background

I received my music education degree in 1995 from VanderCook College of Music in Chicago. My main instruments are flute and oboe but I learned to play ALL instruments in college, including strings. I have taught many areas and levels of music from grades k-12 such as general music, choir, and concert band as well as marching band and jazz band. I have been teaching with Chandler Unified School District since 2006 and have taught at almost a dozen district schools including Basha High. I attended graduate school at Nova Southeastern University in Florida. Beyond the classroom, I'm a private lesson instructor, a freelance musician and a colorguard tech for the WGAZ circuit.

My Educational Philosophy

Music is a universal language, 'the language of emotions'. For children, music has many benefits. It boosts their brain power and improves their memory. Music facilitates learning other subjects and enhances skills that children inevitably use in other areas It teaches them confidence, patience, coordination and socialization. Music can be a much needed connection for kids in ways that other things will not allow. It teaches discipline, fosters creativity and is a great form of expression. Music is Math, langUage, hiStory, readIng, sCience! All of which is food for the mind, body, and soul!

Welcome!

Hello my name is Mrs. Ellinwood and I am looking forward to a fun and exciting academic school year. I will strive to create a positive learning community through my enthusiasm and unique ideas. I am eager to work and help your child succeed in my classroom.

My Education and Professional Background

Throughout school I studied for two years in Elementary Education and received my Bachelors degree in Sports Management from Arizona State University. I also received my Masters degree in Early Childhood Education. I was previously a dance teacher for children ages 3-17 and also gained experience by being an aide in many kindergarten and preschool classrooms. When looking at my teaching philosophy I consider the classroom community a learning family. In the accelerated kindergarten program your child will be working to master all kindergarten and first grade skills by the conclusion of the year. We will work quickly and efficiently to review kindergarten material at the beginning of the year and then transition into full first grade curriculum.

My Educational Philosophy

It is my goal to help your child reach their academic objectives, while at the same time maintaining a love for learning. I love to incorporate music, movement, creative art and many other techniques to address each childs style of learning. My hope for your child is to give them a foundation in reading and writing to help them to succeed in their future learning environments. My classroom is an exciting place to grow as a student. I hope that if you have any questions you will feel free to ask at any time, the door is always open!

Welcome!

My Education and Professional Background

My Educational Philosophy

Welcome!

Welcome! I am excited to be your child's teacher this school year. It's going to be an amazing year of learning new and exciting things for your child. I am looking forward to a wonderful year creating a community of lifelong learners!

My Education and Professional Background

As I was growing up I had a passion for learning new things. Once I began thinking about going to college and what career I wanted to have, I knew teaching was for me - I truly enjoy teaching! Fortunately, I have been teaching since 1988. My teaching career began in California where I taught in central valley as well as the bay area. In 2000, we moved to Arizona and I have been teaching in Chandler Unified since then. Even though I have spent time teaching in all grades K-6 and as a reading specialist, my heart is with the early years, K-2. I have a Bachelor of Arts degree with an emphasis in Early Childhood Education from California State University, Fresno. In addition I have a Reading endorsement, an Early Childhood Education endorsement, and English as a Second Language endorsement in Arizona as well as a Masters degree in Curriculum and Instruction from Northern Arizona University.

My Educational Philosophy

I believe that every child is special and that learning should be a lifelong goal. I want to help students discover that learning can be exciting and fun but will require work on their part. A positive attitude toward school in the early grades is important for future academic success. I would like to work as a team (school & home) to encourage and inspire a love of learning in each child. My personal goal is to take each child from where he/she is now to as far as they can go in this school year at Hancock Elementary.

Welcome!

Welcome to third grade! I’m so excited to be part of your child’s educational journey. Third grade is such a pivotal year where students really become independent in so many ways. I look forward to embarking on an educational adventure with your child this year.

My Education and Professional Background

I graduated from the University of New Mexico with a bachelors in Mass Communications and Journalism and went on to obtain my master’s degree in Elementary Education. I began my career in the field of education in 2001 as a teacher. In 2009, I obtained my National Board Certification. I have taught 2nd, 3rd, and 4th grades. In addition, I worked for three years in various educational roles. I joined the Hancock family in 2014.

My Educational Philosophy

Albert Einstein once said, “Failure is success in progress.” I believe that students learn best when they are challenged in an environment where they feel safe to take risks. I always tell my students, “If it’s not hard, than you’re not learning,” and try to instill the belief that failures are opportunities for growth. I work to cultivate thinking within my scholars, spark their curiosity, and navigate learning with them.

Music can be a much needed connection for kids in ways that other things will not allow. It teaches discipline, fosters creativity and is a great form of expression. Music is Math, langUage, hiStory, readIng, sCience! All of which is food for the mind, body, and soul!

I love being a student as much as I love being a teacher. I have taught all grades from kindergarten to sixth grade and enjoy working with children of all ages. I work part-time for ASU at Gammage Auditorium where I enjoy working the latest Broadway shows.

My Educational Philosophy

I believe that the mind is an endless resource of opportunity. I hope my passion for teaching will help my students become life-long learners to help them achieve all goals and dreams. I believe a strong partnership between home and school is the key to a student's academic success.

Welcome!

Welcome to special education resource! I am excited to guide your child as we learn, and grow together. I am looking forward to working with you and your child to accomplish great things.

My Education and Professional Background

I am originally from Pennsylvania; I attended Brigham Young University, graduating in 2000 with a Bachelor’s degree in human development. I graduated with a special education Master’s degree in 2014 from Arizona State University. I am certified to teach special education and elementary education and have a Structured English Immersion endorsement. Currently I am working on my Wilson level I certification and learning just as much as the students! I was blessed with a special education resource.

My Educational Philosophy

I believe everyone has amazing potential and can accomplish wonderful things. School is not a one-size-fits-all program, that's probably why I teach in special education. It is important to find what works for the student and watch them blossom. I am grateful just to be a part of their learning experience.

My Education and Professional Background

I am an Arizona native and attended Mountain Pointe High School in Ahwatukee. I received my Elementary Education degree from ASU and my Master's Degree in Curriculum and Instruction from NAU.

My Educational Philosophy

I believe that each child is a unique individual who needs a secure, caring, and stimulating atmosphere in which to grow and mature emotionally, intellectually, physically, and socially. It is my desire as a educator to help students meet their fullest potential in these areas by providing an environment that is safe, supports risk-taking, and invites a sharing of ideas. There are three elements that I believe are conducive to establishing such an environment, (1) the teacher acting as a guide, (2) allowing the child's natural curiosity to direct his/her learning, and (3) promoting respect for all things and all people.
