Welcome to Chemistry!
My Education and Professional Background
This is my first year teaching at Hamilton High School. Even though I am originally for northern Minnesota, I am excited to be a Husky! I completed my B.S. in chemistry at Bemidji State University in 1992 and my M.S. in analytical chemistry from the University of North Dakota in 1995. I worked as a chemist in the Minneapolis area before moving to Arizona in 2003. In Arizona, I taught general science and chemistry for Mesa Public Schools for 9 years before moving the Chandler District last year to teach at Chief Hill Learning academy. In my spare time, I am also an adjunct professor for Grand Canyon University.
My Educational Philosophy
Modeling chemistry addresses the key concepts found in traditional chemistry. Through modeling chemistry students develop the atomic theory and periodic law from analyzing and interpreting data. The progression of the curriculum makes more sense than in traditional curricula.
