Hello! My name is Amy Losey! I am so excited to teach kindergarten at Rice Elementary! I absolutely love teaching young children! I can’t wait to get to know my students so our fun journey can begin! I am from Ohio but grew up in Arizona. I have been happily married to my husband for 19 years! We have three teenagers. Our family lives in Gilbert. We have 2 dogs and 2 cats. Our boxer is the favorite, but don’t let the others know!

    My Education and Professional Background

I graduated from Arizona State University in 2003 with a degree in Early Childhood Education. I received a Master’s in Education with a Reading Specialization from Northern Arizona University in 2005. I have taught kindergarten at Eduprize School for 6.5 years, both the Gilbert and Queen Creek campuses. In 2011, I opened Lovebugs Learning Center, LLC. I had an amazing time developing a rich curriculum with hands-on activities for my students. I taught 3 and 4 year-olds for four years. In 2014 I decided it would be the last year for my preschool and I would be returning to a public school. I feel so lucky to be a Rice Rhino!

    My Educational Philosophy

I believe each child is different. Every child is made up of qualities unique to themselves. It is my job to provide a safe learning environment where children are free to take risks and it is ok to make mistakes. I am passionate about tapping into their individual interests! It is my job to teach them the important components of the kindergarten program at Rice, while also inspiring them to love learning! Being a teacher means so much to me! I am so happy to say - I am working my dream job! I absolutely love working with kindergarteners!

The Choice is Yours! Why Choose Rice Elementary?

Did you know Rice Elementary is a sustainable school? Sustainability is a key theme at Rice Elementary. Rice uses energy-saving features throughout the campus as well as, an air-cooled central plant, an energy management system, and a remote control of HVAC and lighting via the Internet. All of these systems help reduce energy consumption. Additionally, Rice utilizes skylights in the hallways so that natural lighting is used when possible, reducing the need for electric lights. The choice of ground and polished concrete floors in hallways and bathrooms not only adds aesthetic appeal but also makes maintenance easier and more cost-effective. The sustainability approach at Rice extends beyond the campus. Rice fosters a culture of caring for self, each other, and the world around us. Through the outdoor learning space, the students actively participate in gardening and nutritional education programs. These initiatives empower our students to develop an understanding of environmental responsibility that they will carry throughout a lifetime.
