Welcome to Title I Preschool at Hartford Elementary. I am happy you are here. My name is Kirsten Smith. The children call me Mrs. Smith. Ms. Veronica will be our assistant. I am thrilled to be your child’s teacher. This will be a huge year of growth for your child . 90% of a child’s brain is developed by the age of five. I have en exciting year of learning and having lots of fun together planned.
My Education and Professional Background
I graduated from Arizona State University with a Bachelors Degree in Elementary Education with a specialization in Early Childhood Education and from Northern Arizona University with a Masters Degree in Elementary Education. I hold endorsements in Early Childhood Ed, SEI and as a Reading Specialist. I spent almost eight years in the elementary school classroom. I have taught first, second and third grades. I stayed home with my children for a few years. I was a substitute teacher in CUSD for eight years and I taught half day preschool for five years.
My Educational Philosophy
I believe all children have have the ability to learn. My responsibility is to provide developmentally appropriate learning experiences that develop the whole child and create a love of learning that will last a life time. I will create a safe nurturing environment for your child to come to each day.
