My Education and Professional Background
My teaching career began in 2007 serving as a Peace Corps Volunteer in the country of Belize in Central America. I served for 2.5 years helping teachers learn about special education, helped design a special education curriculum, and did many fun building projects like repainting a library, installing solar panels, and establishing an art club for students. I returned to the United States in 2009 and began teaching special education in the central Phoenix area, then in Casa Grande, and now in Chandler in 2013. I obtained my Bachelors of Arts in Special Education, focusing on Learning Disabilities, Emotional Behavioral Disorders, Intellectual Disabilities, and Other Health Impairments, from Arizona State University in 2007. In 2011, I obtained a Masters of Education degree focusing on Curriculum & Instruction in Reading from Grand Canyon University with my K-12 Reading Endorsement. Additionally, in 2014, I completed a second Master's degree in Autism Spectrum Disorders.
My Educational Philosophy
My mission is to help support and encourage students to be their own self-advocates as well as learn strategies and tools to help them throughout their lives. All students have the ability to dream big and reach those dreams. Thank you so much for letting me know your child! I feel blessed to be a part of their journey and I will help in any way I can.
