Hello and Welcome!! My name is Katie Guhy (like GUYS and gals) and I am so very excited to share this 4th grade adventure with you and your family!
My Education and Professional Background
After receiving my Bachelors in Elementary Education from Arizona State University in 2010, my teaching journey began in 4th grade at Mesquite Elementary in Gilbert Public Schools. After four great years at Mesquite I spread my wings to Denver, Colorado where I continued to teach 4th grade in the Cherry Creek School District at Sagebrush Elementary. Following another two fantastic years I followed my heart back to Arizona where I became a Toro in 2016! I continued my education through Arizona State University by pursuing a Masters in Curriculum and Instruction: Autism Spectrum Disorders which I earned in 2016.
My Educational Philosophy
My educational philosophy continues to change every year, but I stay rooted in the belief that character is just as important as academics. I strive to provide a safe space where students take responsibility for their education and their actions; a place where they will learn, grow, make mistakes, stay challenged, and be celebrated. I believe in building a family dynamic built on respect and the belief that each student has a voice and feelings that matter!
