Thank you for visiting my teacher site! I am looking forward to a great year at Tarwater Elementary School.
My Education and Professional Background
I earned my Bachelor's Degree in Non-Profit Administration/Psychology from Metropolitan State University in St. Paul, Minnesota. I worked for many years in the Employee Benefits field before making the transition to teaching. I earned my Master's Degree in Elementary and Special Education from Arizona State University. This will be my first year at Tarwater.
My Educational Philosophy
I strive to provide a safe, comfortable environment for children to learn and am passionate about working with those who struggle. The biggest obstacle for any child to overcome is their own self doubt and lack of confidence. Once a child realizes the scope of their own potential, the fun in learning begins. I feel the most important thing I can do as a teacher is to work with students so they see their capabilities and are not afraid to take risks in learning. The philosophy in my classroom is that it's okay to not know, but it's not okay to not try. I don't allow the words, I can't , I'm not good at... . We all have the potential to do anything, sometimes we just have to work harder to get there.
