Welcome to First Grade! I am very happy to be part of Auxier Elementary. I am originally from Southern California and moved to Arizona 26 years ago. I am married to my amazing husband, Jason. Together we have three beautiful children-Maya, Jack, and Ben. Jack attends Auxier and will be in 3rd grade this year.
My Education and Professional Background
I began working for Chandler Unified School District in 2008. I taught 1st, 2nd, and 3rd grade at CTA-Independence for six years. I was fortunate to stay at home for two years with my family, and I returned to CUSD in 2016. This will be my fourth year teaching at Auxier. Prior to teaching in CUSD, I taught 2nd grade for Ball Charter Schools and 1st-2nd in the Deer Valley Unified School District. I graduated from Arizona State University in 2004 with my bachelor's degree in education and a specialization in early childhood. I have also received my reading endorsement from Northern Arizona University. I am Spalding trained and certified, and I enjoy helping parents and teachers integrate the program effectively both at home and at school. Currently, I am attending Grand Canyon University for my Master of Education in School Counseling.
My Educational Philosophy
I believe every child can become a successful learner. I will create a caring, safe environment where students are respected and instill a love for learning that inspires my students to be their best. A strong partnership between home and school will produce the most effective learners and help to create student success. In my classroom, every child is capable, valued, and a leader within.
