I am thrilled to join the Basha Family! I look forward to helping my Orchestra Students to not just achieve their musical goals, and help them discover the endless positive effects that music provides, but also to enrich their lives and build their character. Music is not just what I teach, it is who I am! I feel that music has provided countless opportunities for personal growth and I am excited to share my passion with my Orchestra Students at BHS!
My Education and Professional Background
I was raised in a musical family in Gilbert AZ. Music was the theme of our lives from the time my 9 siblings and I were small children. My mother was a Suzuki Violin Teacher and my dad was our biggest fan! I graduated with a BA in Music from BYU-Provo in August of 1993. Cello is my main instrument. I stayed home and taught private cello and piano lessons while raising our daughter, who is also a cellist. I taught Orchestra in the HUSD from 2005-present.
My Educational Philosophy
My educational philosophy is simply that every student can learn, if given caring, nurturing and motivating instruction in an environment that is positive, respectful and sincere. Because each student is unique, it is vital for the teacher to discover how best the student assimilates and processes instruction. I also believe strongly that it is my job to promote confidence in every student that I teach and to instill the desire to learn!
