Welcome!

Hello! I’m Amy Carpenter, Resource Teacher for the first grade thru third grade students at Bologna Elementary. I have been a Special Education Teacher for 16 years. I received my Bachelor of Science in Special Education from ASU. My first 8 years were spent in Gilbert teaching Resource in an elementary school. This is my 9th year with the Chandler Unified School District. Bologna is a fantastic place to work! I love working with my students and watching them grow from year to year.

My Education and Professional Background

After receiving my Bachelor's degree in Special Education, I took in-district and college classes to get credits for recertification. I got an SEI endorsement, as well as a Early Childhood Endorsement. I became trained as a Thinking Maps trainer in April of 2007. A few years ago, I went back to school (NAU) to obtain an endorsement as a K-12 Reading Specialist. Most recently, I have attended trainings for CIMA and the Wilson Reading Program.

My Educational Philosophy

My goal as an educator is to challenge my students and watch them grow to their full potential. I strongly believe that every child has worth and can learn. It is my job, as a teacher, to teach to the needs of my students and to provide differentiated instruction to best serve each student individually. From my own educational experiences, I know how valuable teacher encouragement and motivation is for personal growth. I intend to motivate students while teaching them to be intrinsically motivated through challenging yet supportive lessons and assignments.
