About
Phillips...
Teaching has been a passion for me since I was in college in the 90's. I developed my love of teaching working a part time job as instructor for a test prep service teaching for tests like the SAT, GRE, LSAT, and MCAT. Throughout my engineering career I always placed an emphasis on training, even spending a couple of years in the training department at Intel developing a full-tool training lab. I am happy now to be able to impart my experience real-world knowledge on the youth of today.
My Education and Professional Background
I started my working career early in life. By the time I was a junior in high school I was working close to forty hours per week while still maintaining my status on the honor roll in school. I tried college for a couple of years but due to the cost associated with school, I enlisted in the Navy as a chemist for the nuclear reactors. After the Navy, I was able to finish a chemical engineering degree at ASU. Since then, I have worked in the chemical coatings and semi conductor industries as both a process engineer and a senior level engineering manager.
My Educational Philosophy
Junior high school is a transitional period for kids. I believe in incouraging the kids to take responsibility for their own actions helping them to gain their independence and grow into responsible adults. My goal is to help them learn a positive work ethic as measured through their participation and grades which will help them as they mature and move on through school and life.
