Welcome to American Sign Language! I am excited for the opportunity to teach ASL at ACP Erie. Please check out the resource links in the left-hand column for ASL and Fingerspelling websites.
My Education and Professional Background
I have worked as a professional sign language interpreter for more than thirty years. I graduated from Phoenix College's Interpreter Training Program in 1985. In 2011, I graduated from NAU with a Bachelor's degree in Elementary Education. Before joining ACP Erie's staff, I taught 3rd grade (Yay,Third Grade!) at Hancock Elementary.
My Educational Philosophy
Educational theorist Thomas Carruthers stated, "A good teacher is one who makes himself progressively unnecessary." I believe my charge as an educator is to equip students with the keys to unlock the door to their futures and then empower them with the skills and confidence to walk through it.
