|"The arts are not a way to make a living. They are a very human way of making life more bearable. Practicing an art, no matter how well or badly, is a way to make your soul grow, for heaven’s sake."|

Welcome to Honors English 9 and/or Drama! I'm happy to have you here and look forward to our adventures.
My Education and Professional Background
I earned a BA in English from the University of North Texas. I have taught previously in Texas and in Japan. While in Japan I also had the pleasure of serving on the executive board of our local community theater where I was able to plan, produce, direct, and perform in several plays and musicals.
My Educational Philosophy
I believe that life is about making connections. I believe in the power of community and the value of reading, writing, and discussion as tools to help us shape our own opinions and beliefs. I strive to create a classroom environment of mutual respect, kindness, and fun that fosters a sense community and human connection so that we can all learn and grow. I believe that studying theater is just as important as studying math and that it gives us an opportunity to develop skills needed to succeed in a variety of industries and environments. Most importantly, I believe in my students, and I believe in fun.
