My Education and Professional Background
Currently, I'm working to obtain my Doctorate in Education through the University of Illinois, Urbana-Champaign. I study technology enhanced learning design and am honored to have an advisor that previously worked with the US Department of Education as well as the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation. I earned my Masters in Teaching from Western Governors University and earned my California Single Subject Credential (Biology) in 2016. I hold several EdTech certifications including Google Certified Educator, Microsoft Innovative Educator, and Apple Teacher.
My Educational Philosophy
My educational philosophy is that all students are capable of learning anything. What differs from one individual to another is pace. What dictates this pace is interest in the material, foundational knowledge, and the ability to form connections to that knowledge. My job as an educator is to inspire students to love to learn. Once the love of learning is established, a student's capabilities are unrestricted. To love to learn science, students must interact, relate concepts to real life scenarios, and become amazed about the world around them. It's my privilege and duty to share my love of science and learning with students.
