About
Hughes...
Welcome to Mr. Hughes's Social Studies Webpage!!!
My Education and Professional Background
I am originally from Indiana and started my higher education in the Honors Engineering Program at Purdue University. I then decided to go into teaching so I received a Secondary Social Studies Education Bachelors of Science. I then went to the Arizona Summit Law School and received a J.D. I spent 2 years practicing Education Law and Estate Planning, then decided to start teaching again. I spent 3 years in Mesa Public Schools and am now at Bogle Junior High.
My Educational Philosophy
I firmly believe in the quote from the movie A League of Their Own, It's supposed to be hard, it being hard is what makes it great. What does this mean for education? If a student is not having to work at accomplishing something then they are not learning. Failure is a natural part of learning and must be embraced to be a full learner. I attempt to push my students to their individual limits and support them in their growth. There is always more to learn for everyone. The wisest man knows he KNOWS NOTHING.
