Welcome to Andersen Junior High and the girls Physical Education program. Health and wellnes are huge pieces of being a well-rounded learner and person, I'm thrilled to share this vision with all of the students at AJHS! When our bodies are health and strong our minds are too. Coaching Physical Education is a great way for me to combine my love of fitness with my love of education. I can't wait to meet all of you and be apart of your journey!

My Education and Professional Background

I earned my Bachelor of Arts in Education with endorsements in Elementary Education, Reading, and Math from Eastern Washington University in 2007. I also earned a Master's of Education in Curriculum and Instruction from Washington State University with endorsements in Early Childhood Education and English Language Learner in 2011. I completed my Physical Education endorsement in 2017. I spent the first 4 years of my teaching career teaching Kindergarten and 1st grade in my hometown of Spokane, Washington before moving to Chandler. I began teaching in Chandler 2011 where I taught 3rd grade for 6 years and now coach Physical Education at Andersen Junior High. I could not be more honored to work for such an amazing district. Being a lifelong learner who is dedicated to education is engrained in every fiber of who I am!

My Educational Philosophy

I believe that every child has the ability to learn in their own way and it is my goal to honor the individual needs of each child. I have high standards for students and what they can achieve in the classroom. They are supported in meeting those standards through a variety of teaching methods in which I can honor the strengths of each child. It is my deepest passion to help shape well-round, whole-hearted, critical thinkers who have the passion and desire to make a difference in the world. To do this I teach kids to take responsibility for their actions, set goals and work hard to achieve them, see the good in others and find ways to honor their own strengths, and be team players in our community. Having these skills along with the academics that thye learn though the curriculum creates a culture that thrives on learning and supporting each other, that is safe and honest, that creates and molds big dreams, and that provides a ton of success for each student.
