National Chinese Honor Society inducts every spring. Students must have completed three semesters of Chinese, must fill out an application, and must have a 3.0 average in both Mandarin classes and cummulative GPA. Applications are available through Mandarin classes in January of each year. Seniors in National Chinese Honor Society should see Ms. Pederson in February of each year for cord ordering information.
For Casteel students:
To receive a Casteel letter in National Chinese Honor Society, a student must:
Be in 9th-12th grade and complete an application for a letter
Be currently enrolled in a Mandarin course
Have a GPA of 3.75 (unweighted) in all Mandarin courses
Have a weighted cumulative GPA of 3.75 in all courses
Be an inducted member of National Chinese Honor Society
Complete 5.5 hours of service
Lead one or more club activities for National Chinese Honor Society or Chinese Club
To receive a pin in National Chinese Honor Society, a student must:
Have received a letter for NCHS in a previous year
Be in 10th-12th grade and complete an application
Have a GPA of 3.75 (unweighted) in all Mandarin courses
Have a weighted cumulative GPA of 3.75 in all courses
Lead a club activity for National Chinese Honor Society or Chinese Club
To receive a graduation cord in National Chinese Honor Society, a student must:
Be in 12th grade and complete an application for a cord
Have a GPA of 3.75 (unweighted) in all Mandarin courses
Have a weighted cumulative GPA of 3.75 in all courses
Be an inducted member of National Chinese Honor Society
