My Education and Professional Background

I graduated from the University of Arizona with a Bachelor’s Degree in Special Education with an Emphasis on Deaf Studies, American Sign Language, and Educational Interpreting. During my time at the U of A, I mastered my ASL skills through my studies and by volunteering my time interpreting and being highly active in the Deaf Community in Tucson. Recently, I worked as an Educational Interpreter in High School and Elementary School. This will be my second year teaching at Casteel High School and its going to be another great year to learn ASL! I look forward to bringing my American Sign Language skills and my passion for Deaf Culture and the language into the classroom! Outside of ASL, I enjoy making and teaching music. I received a minor in Music from the U of A, as well as served as the Drum Major for the Pride of Arizona Marching Band for three years. I get to continue my passion of music, here at Casteel, by working with the CCHS Marching Band.

My Educational Philosophy

Do it with passion or not at all. I believe that teachers should be passionate about what they are teaching. Through our passion, we can inspire students to grow and become anything they want to be, in hopes that one day; they will share their passion with others too. It sure is a beautiful thing when a career and a passion come together.
