My Education and Professional Background

After standing in the wrong line at the job fair at the University of Oklahoma, I ended up starting a career in Human Resources Management. I was heavily involved in employee relations, business strategy partnership and staffing and corporate training and education for many years. However, I always had a desire to make my way back in to the classroom someday. With the encouragement of my family, I returned to school in pursuit of becoming an educator. I was a long term substitute in conjunction with completing my teaching post bac program. I was asked to continue in the classroom full time at the end of my long term assignment. I was thrilled at the opportunity to be a part of CUSD and the CTA Independence community and have enjoyed the opportunity to fulfill my passion of becoming a teacher. How amazing it is it be a part of a child’s legacy they contribute to the world……

My Educational Philosophy

I am passionate about making education and learning something the children entering my classroom love! There is nothing more rewarding than having students who WANT to come to school and WANT to learn! I am continually amazed by the growth the students at CTA Independence are capable of and helping them realize their potential is what makes my job amazing! My classroom is filled with high expectations, structure, laughter and encouragement. I believe that students learn best when they are surrounded by consistency, happiness and positive energy within the classroom. It takes a village to raise these kiddos and I am excited to partner with my families to see these students soar!
