Welcome!

Welcome families! I am excited to join the Pride. I am married with two children. My son will be a 6th grade CTA student here at Patterson and my daughter will be a sophomore at Basha High. My husband is an assistant principal with the Kyrene School District. We have 3 cats and 2 dogs. I enjoy spending time with family and reading. I look forward to getting to know you this year!

My Education and Professional Background

This coming year will be my 20th year of teaching. I received my BA in Elementary Education from Arizona State University and just received my MA in Educational Leadership from Northern Arizona University. My career began with 5th grade in the Apache Junction School District. My remaining years have been with Mesa Public Schools. I taught 3rd, 4th, and 6th grades. For 6 years I was at Franklin East Elementary, which is one of Mesa’s choice schools and is back to basics traditional. I have been grade level team lead, student council advisor, spelling bee coordinator, and yearbook sponsor. I have a lot of experience with technology and have trained teachers to use technology.

My Educational Philosophy

I believe that anyone with a nourishing and encouraging environment can be the best they can be. Students are the makers of their own destiny and behavior is the consequence of human choice. The focus in my classroom is to have a growth mindset. I also believe students’ interests are important, as is integration of thinking, feeling, and doing. I believe school should help students develop personal and social values so that they can become thoughtful, productive citizens.
