Welcome to Ms. McCourt's Third Grade Class! My name is Grace McCourt and this will be my first year at Tarwater! I am excited to be entering my 7th year of teaching.
My Education and Professional Background
After graduating from the University of Arizona with a degree in elementary education, I taught for two years in Tucson. I decided it was time for a change and moved to Phoenix! I have taught kindergarten, first, and second grade. I am so excited to teach third grade at Tarwater! It will be a wonderful year!
My Educational Philosophy
In my classroom, I believe it is important for my students to grow in many ways. Of course, we focus on the academics. In addition, my students learn how to be kind, respectful, and responsible third graders. We have a positive classroom community where students acknowledge when others are kind. They learn to work as a team and problem solve together. We sing, dance, and move while we are learning new concepts. I use flexible seating to ensure that each child is able to work comfortably and effectively. Every child learns in a unique way and I try very hard to meet the needs of each child.
