Hello! My name is Drew Tattam and I am excited and honored to be your child's math teacher! We will have a fun, challenging, and engaging year! I can't wait to see the progress each child will make throughout their year in seventh grade. A little about me: Arizona has been my home since 2013, and prior to that I grew up in Northern California. If I'm not at school, I enjoy painting and spending time with my cat!
My Education and Professional Background
I graduated from Arizona State University where I received a dual certification in both General and Special Education. I am filled with Sun Devil pride! Along with being dual certified I also studied for and achieved a certification in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math) education while at ASU. Prior to graduating, I had the amazing opportunity to student teach at Santan for a year in the eighth grade math department alongside Mrs. Jeffers and Ms. Stanley.
Then after graduation, I worked as a co-teacher with Mr. Brown in the seventh grade math department. Under their guidance I have gained invaluable experience working with middle school students. I have always had a passion for math as a student, and now as a teacher I'm thrilled to bring that passion to the other side of the desk.
My Educational Philosophy
I believe that each of your children are unique and need a safe learning community where they can flourish! My goal is to utilize an investigative teaching style where students participate in classroom discussions and recognize applications for math skills in the real world. I intend on teaching math in an interactive way that piques your child's curiosity while promoting education. It is my goal that your child succeeds this year and approaches their future with a new understanding (and hopefully love) of math! I greatly value parent involvement and encourage you to collaborate with me in order to give your child the best learning experience possible!
